Born Maximillion Drake Thieriot on the 14th October 1988, in Los Altos Hills, California USA, he is the son and middle child of George Cameron Thieriot and his wife Bridgit Ann; he has a younger brother Aidan, and an older sister, Frances. He is the descendent of M.H. de Young and his brother Charles de Young, who founded the San Francisco Chronicle. Max’s paternal grandparents died when the SS Andrea Doria sank in 1956. He spent his childhood in Occidental in Sonoma County, California USA, and went to Sonoma County Day School, located in Santa Rosa.
After middle school, he enrolled at El Molino High School in Forestville, California, and matriculated in 2006.
Career Beginnings
Max’s career started in the early 2000s, when he started attending improvisation classes organized by Don Gibble, a talent manager. After this he soon secured a modeling gig with GAP, and featured in a couple of short films, before he made his acting debut. It was in 2004 that he was selected for the part of Gus in the film “Catch That Kid”, starring next to Kristen Stewart and Corbin Bleu.
The following year he secured a role in the action-comedy film “The Pacifier”, next to Vin Diesel, and received a Young Artist Award for Best Performance in a Feature film- Supporting Young Actor nomination. He continued quite successfully into the second half of the 2000s, first with the part of Shepard Farmer in the film “The Astronaut Farmer” (2006), and then portrayed Ned Nickerson in the mystery film “Nancy Drew” in 2007.
Rise to Prominence
Gradually, Max was becoming more popular, and in 2009 he co-starred in the romantic mystery drama film “Chloe”, with Julianne Moore, Amanda Seyfried, and Liam Neeson, while in 2010 he starred in Wes Craven’s horror-thriller film “My Soul to Take”, with John Magaro and Denzel Whitaker. He continued with lead roles, and in 2012 starred in the horror film “House at the End of the Street”, starring next to Elizabeth Shue and Jennifer Lawrence.
The following year, Max was chosen for one of his most prominent roles so far, as Dylan Massett in the TV horror drama mystery series “Bates Motel” (2013-2017), featuring in all 50 episodes of the Primetime Emmy Award-nominated series, which launched him to stardom. While the series lasted, he also played Jack Hays in the TV mini-series “Texas Rising”, and Jeff in the film “Point Break” (2015). He is a married man and his wife’s name is Alexi Thieriot (nee Murphy). The couple got engaged in 2012 during a trip to the Caribbean, when they were already seven years into their relationship, having known each other since their teenage years. The wedding ceremony was held on the 1st June 2013 in Lake Tahoe, California, since when the couple has welcomed two sons, Beaux and Maximus.
In addition to his love for acting, Max is also an acclaimed vintner with his own vineyards in his hometown of Occidental; he produces the wine label Senses.
