Who is Sophie Cookson?
British actress Sophie Cookson was born in Sussex, England, on 15 May 1990, meaning that her zodiac sign is Taurus. She has 17 acting credits, and is perhaps known best for portraying Roxy in the 2014 action adventure comedy movie “Kingsman: The Secret Service”, which starred Colin Firth and Taro Egerton, and was directed by Matthew Vaughn. It follows a new recruit of a spy organization, and the movie won 11 of its 46 award nominations; this was also Sophie’s debut film role.
She’s currently shooting for three upcoming movies: “Emperor”, “This Time Next Year” and “Stockholm Bloodbath”.
Education and early life
Sophie was raised in Sussex alongside her younger brother, by their mother Marie Louise Cookson and father Colin Cookson; no other details have been shared about Sophie’s family, because she respects their privacy.
The family moved to Suffolk, England before Sophie turned 10, and she then enrolled at Woodbridge School; she became interested in both singing and acting at the school, and then also became a member of a theatre company which toured Japan.
Sophie matriculated in 2008, and then enrolled at the University of Edinburgh to study art history and Arabic language; she dropped out a year later and enrolled at Oxford School of Drama, from which she graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in acting in 2013.
Roles in TV series
Sophie’s debut TV series role was playing Grace Mohune in three episodes of the 2013 adventure mini-series “Moonfleet”, which starred Ray Winstone and Aneurin Barnard, and follows orphan John Trenchard who’s dreaming about finding the legendary pirate Blackbeard’s treasure; the series won one of its three award nominations.
The year 2014 saw Sophie play Millie Lancaster in two episodes of the romantic drama “Rosamunde Pilcher”, which has been airing since 1993, and today stars Stuart Davidson, Colin Matthews and Alexander-Klaus Stecher. It’s a compilation of short films based on British author Rosamunde Pilcher’s novels, and the series has been nominated for only a single award.
In 2017, Sophie starred as Sidney Pierce in all 10 episodes of the thriller “Gypsy”, which also starred Naomi Watts and Billy Crudup, and was created by Lisa Rubin; it follows the life of therapist Jean Holloway.

From 2018 through 2020, Sophie portrayed the lead character Christine Keeler in all six episodes of the historical drama “The Trial of Christine Keeler”, which also starred James Norton and Ellie Bamber, and follows Christine Keeler who was involved in a political sex scandal in Great Britain in the ‘60s; the series was nominated for three awards.
Sophie’s only other TV series role has been portraying one of the main characters Madame Marguerite Benham in all four episodes of the 2022 mystery “The Confessions of Frannie Langton”, which also starred Karla-Simone Spence and Patrick Martins, and was created by Sara Collins. It follows one woman’s fight to have her story heard.
Roles in movies
Sophie portrayed Pippa in the popular 2016 action adventure “The Huntsman: Winter’s War”, which starred Chris Hemsworth, Jessica Chastain and Charlize Theron, and was directed by Cedric Nicolas-Troyan. It follows Sara and Eric, warriors of Ice Queen Freya’s army as they’re trying to hide that they’re in love, and the film was nominated for 16 awards.
The year 2017 saw Sophie appear in three movies: the mystery horror thriller “The Crucifixion”, the action adventure comedy “Kingsman: The Golden Circle”, and the short musical “Pleader”. She portrayed the lead character Young Joan in the 2018 biographical historical drama “Red Joan”, which also starred Judi Dench and Stephen Campbell Moore, and follows the life of Joan Stanley, who was the KGB’s longest-serving British spy.
Sophie’s appeared in only three other movies: the 2018 historical romantic drama “Ashes in the Snow”, the 2019 comedy “Greed”, and the 2021 action science fiction thriller “Infinite”.

She met British actor Stephen Campbell Moore while they were shooting together for the movie “Red Joan” in 2017, but only began dating in November 2018. Stephen has 60 acting credits and is perhaps still known best for playing one of the lead characters Kevin Swain in the 2008 crime thriller film “The Bank Job”, which also starred Jason Statham and Saffron Burrows, and follows a group of thieves planning to rob a bank; the film was nominated for three awards.
Sophie gave birth to her and Stephen’s daughter Ivy Rose in 2018.
There are no other men whom Sophie’s perhaps been with, that we know about; she’s in a long-term relationship with Stephen Campbell Moore as of August 2023, and they have a daughter together.
