Early Life and Education
Born Heeyoon Kang in a small town in Massachusetts, USA, Hyoon’s love for art was evident from a young age. She would often be found sketching in her notebooks, lost in her own world of imagination. Her parents, recognizing her talent, enrolled her in art classes where she honed her skills. For her higher education, she pursued a degree in Fine Arts, specializing in digital illustration. This foundation played a pivotal role in shaping her future career.
Rise to Fame
In her artwork, Hyoon mostly focuses on characters and portraits. She’s known for her delicate, but still rough-around-the-edges art style, and use of pastel colors. Her style is inspired by both Japanese and Western animation.
Hyoon’s journey to fame began on Instagram: Her first post featured her drawing of the “Haikyū!!” manga/anime character, Tobio Kageyama, and was uploaded in 2014. In the following months, Hyoon continued to showcase more of her work, with her renditions of popular anime and video game characters attracting attention online.
As her followers grew, so did opportunities. Collaborations with brands and invitations to art and gaming conventions soon followed. Her dedication and consistent output soon made her a household name in the digital art community.
In addition to her artwork, Hyoon also often uploads sometimes provocative photos of herself in and out of cosplay, which have also contributed to her online popularity.
Branching out from static art, Hyoon took to Twitch to connect with her audience in real-time. Initially, she would stream her drawing process while chatting with her viewers, however, she has since branched out into more traditional forms of streaming, such as playing popular video games; some of the titles Hyoon can be seen playing on her channel include “Overcooking”, “Genshin Impact”, and games from the “Pokemon” franchise.
Since launching her Twitch channel in 2016, Hyoon has amassed more than 250,000 followers, averaging over 1,800 viewers per stream.
She often collaborated with members of the OfflineTV content creator collective, and is closely associated with them despite not being a member. She is particularly close to Lily and Scarra, who happen to be some of the first content creators she became friends with.
Presence on Social Media
Aside from Twitch, Hyoon also has a large following on other social media platforms. On Instagram, her account ‘@aikuros’ numbers close to 500,000 followers, while her photos amass an average of around 70,000 likes.
She has an even larger fan base on X (formerly Twitter), with around 530,000 followers. In addition to her art and photos, on X, Hyoon also often posts about video games, and shares anecdotes from her life, giving her fans another side of her personality.
In addition, she has a YouTube channel which she launched in November 2020, however, on which she’s a lot less active compared to other social media, resulting in a lower number of subscribers, about 20,000.
Love Life and Boyfriend
Hyoon has always been private about her personal life, but it’s known that she’s in a relationship with a fellow artist. The two often share their creations with each other, seeking feedback and inspiration. Their shared passion for art makes their bond even stronger, and they’re often noticed collaborating on projects.
Hobbies and Interesting Facts
Unsurprisingly, Hyoon spends most of her spare time playing video games. She’s been a gamer since childhood and getting her first GameBoy console. In an X post from October 2023, she shared a list of videos that she considers to be the most influential for her, including “The Legend of Zelda: Okarina of Time”, “Animal Crossing: Wild World”, and “World of Warcraft”.
Hyoon is also an avid reader, with a preference for fantasy novels. Some of her favorites are the works of Brandon Sanderson, such as “The Final Empire” and “The Way of Kings”.
She has a pet rabbit named ‘Luna’, which has made appearances in some of her artworks.
Hyoon is also a fan of classical music, and believes it helps her concentrate while creating.
As of 2023, Hyoon’s net worth is estimated to be close to $200,000. Her art prints, especially limited editions, are highly sought after, often selling out within hours. With her ever-growing popularity and diverse income streams, Hyoon’s financial success mirrors her artistic achievements.
