Who is DJ Khaled?
Khaled Mohamed Khaled was born on 26th November 1975, in New Orleans, Louisiana USA, of Arabic decent, and better known by his stage name DJ Khaled, is a DJ, record producer, radio personality, record label executive and author, who is probably best recognized for being a part of the group Terror Squad. He is also known as a solo artist, who has released such albums as “Suffering From Success”, “I Changed A Lot” and “Major Key”, among others.
Early Life and Education
DJ Khaled was raised with brother in the US by Palestinian parents, who migrated just before he was born; his brother is Alec Ledd (Alla Khaled), a famous actor. Both of his parents were musicians who played Arabic music, so he was surrounded by music from the beginning. He became interested in rap and soul music when he was just a boy, so he started working in a local record store which set the basis for his career in the music industry, which his parents fully supported. He attended Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando.
Career Beginnings
Solo Career and Rise to Fame
Speaking about Khaled’s career in the music industry as a solo artist, it began in 2006, when he released his debut studio album entitled “Listennn… the Album” via Koch Records, achieving positive critiques and peaking at No. 12 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

This was followed in 2007 by his second studio album “We The Best”, which spawned such hit singles as “I’m So Hood” featuring Trick Daddy, T-Pain, Plies and Rick Ross, which reached No. 19 on the US Billboard Hot 100, and “We Takin’ Over” featuring Akon, Fat Joe, Lil Wayne, Birdman and Rick Ross, which debuted at No. 28 on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and achieved gold certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In addition, this latter song brought him Ozone Award in the category for Best Video.

The following year was even more successful for Khaled, as he released his third album “We Global” which gained many positive reviews from music critics, and included the single “Go Hard” with Kanye West and T-Pain. Later this year, his song “I’m So Hood” was certified platinum by the RIAA, potentially adding a considerable amount to his net worth.
Later Career
To speak further about Khaled’s career, in 2010 he released his next album called “Victory” which, ironically, had pretty low sales, although it debuted at No. 12 on the US Billboard 200 chart, and the single “All I Do Is Win” was certified double-platinum. This album was marked with guest appearances by some of the biggest names in the music industry, such as Snoop Dogg, Drake, Lil Wayne, Ludacris and many others.
In the next two years, he managed to release two new studio albums – “We The Best Forever” in 2011 and “Kiss The Ring” the following year, on which he collaborated with many rappers and famous produces, such as Jay-Z, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, etc. Both of these albums entered the top five on the US Billboard 200 chart, which attracted several prosperous agencies, and he signed with Cash Money Records, Universal Motown, E1 Entertainment, and established his own label called We the Best Music Group.
Khaled’s next studio album – “Suffering From Success” – was released in 2013, increasing his popularity enormously due to the hit single “I Wanna Be With You” featuring Nicki Minaj. Two years later out came the album entitled “I Changed A Lot”.
Recent Years
At the beginning of 2016, Khaled launched his new “We the Best Radio Show”, hosting many famous musicians and people involved in the music industry. Following this, he signed with Jay-Z’s company – Roc Nation – and released his next studio album “Major Key”, which topped not only on the US Billboard 200, but also the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums chart, increasing his net worth by a large margin. In the following year, his next album “Grateful” topped the charts as the previous one, and achieved platinum certification by the RIAA.
