Jonathan’s uncle is one of the most prominent screenwriters and actors, Jeff Weiss. Jonathan matriculated from Chaminade College Preparatory School in West Hills, California in 2000, following which he enrolled at Harvard University to study history and philosophy. He finished his studies eventually, but not before he spent a year in Scotland, at St Andrews University. Years later he graduated from the Columbia University School of General Studies.

After “Home Improvement” ended, Jonathan looked for new engagements, and in 1999 featured in the romantic-crime drama film “Speedway Junky”, with Richard Barin, Jaime Bergman and Jesse Bradford, while in 2000 he was the voice of Tyler Tucker in the TV series “The Wild Thornberrys”. With the start of the new millennium, Jonathan’s interest in acting began to fade, and in the next few years he only secured guest roles in such TV series as “8 Simple Rules” in 2004, then in “Veronica Mars” (2005), among others. After that, he took a break until 2013, when he returned with the double role of John Baker/Randy in the TV comedy series “Last Man Standing” (2013-2015), since when he has been away from the public eye.
