Three years later, she had another leading role, in “Country Life” which is an Australian film adapted from the play entitled “Uncle Vanya” written by Anton Chekhov, and was debuted at the 19th Moscow International Film Festival, and was well received. Fox’s performance in particular received a lot of praise, bringing her an Australian Film Institute Award nomination. During the same year, she was cast in the hit film “Shallow Grave”, appearing alongside Ewan McGregor in the directing debut of Danny Boyle, and which follows the story of three people trying to keep a huge amount of money and the apparent death of their new roommate secret; it is considered Boyle’s breakout film. Her next project would be a supporting role in 1997’s “The Hanging Garden” which was directed and written by Thom Fitzgerald, and filmed in Nova Scotia with themes tackling the duality of life and death. For her performance in the film, she received another nomination, this time for a Canadian Academy Award.


In 2001, Kerry was cast in the film “Intimacy” playing the role of Claire, and is based on stories by Hanif Kureishi who also wrote a novel of the same name. The production of the film became well known as Kerry would do an unstimulated fellatio scene on co-star Mark Rylance. Her next notable project came in 2009 when she appeared as a part of a theatrical production entitled “Speaking in Tongues”, working alongside John Simm, Ian Hart and Lucy Cohu. Two years later, she appeared in the television adaptation of the novel “Cloudstreet” in the role of Oriel Lamb; the novel is written by Tim Winton and is about the lives of two working class Australian families. The film won multiple awards including a Miles Franklin Award.


A few of her recent projects include the film “The Dressmaker” based on a novel of the same name written by Rosalie Ham. The film stars Kate Winslet and explores themes of creativity as well as revenge. She was also a part of 2016’s “The Rehearsal” which is also based on another novel, this time written by Eleanor Catton. It was screened at the Toronto International Film Festival.
