Born Kate Giles on the 8th September 1981, in Manchester, England, she is a TV presenter and journalist, best known to the world for her extensive work for Fox Sports, focusing primarily on Champions League and Europa League football (soccer) coverage.

Kate is the second born to her parents as she has an older brother; no further information is available about her parents, except for the fact that her mother is an F.C. Liverpool supporter, while she herself is a Manchester United fan. Kate went to Withington Girls’ School, and upon graduation enrolled at the University of Salford, graduating four years later with a degree in European Languages. Kate is prominent in Spanish, French, German and English as well, having spent time living in those countries, during which she obtained a degree in journalism from the University of Malaga in Spain.

Before leaving CNN, she also covered the FIFA 2010 World Soccer Cup held in South Africa.

Rise to Prominence

After leaving CNN, Kate became a part of Sky Deutschland, and served as a lead anchor in the Sky Sports News HD TV channel, which started its broadcast in 2011. Two years later she reached UK Sky Sports, hosting Sports News, while she was also given the role as the host of Coppa Italia. As she became more experienced, Kate’s drew more attention, and she was given the honor of hosting the 2014 FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony, during which she spoke with guests and contestants employing her knowledge of four languages. This launched her to greater prominence, and the next year she was again the host of the FIFA Ballon d’Or ceremony.

Kate sought a new challenge, and in January 2017 she was recruited by Fox Sports in the US, initially given the role as host of the Champions League and Europa League coverage. Most recently, it was announced that Kate will assume the position of a presenter of Turner Sport’s UEFA Champions League coverage, once the new season begins, as the TV station has bought the rights from the Fox Sports, but Kate will also continue working for Fox Sports as well.
