He finished his high school career with the most points in the history of Oregon boys’ basketball – 2,628. He then enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), studying and playing for two years, before declaring for the NBA Draft. He was chosen by the Memphis Grizzlies as the fifth overall pick, but was soon afterwards traded to the Minnesota Timberwolves for O.J Mayo, Marko Jaric, Antoine Walker and Greg Buckner.
In his rookie season, Kevin played in 81 games, 37 of which were starts, and in 25.3 minutes per game he averaged 11.1 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, which earned him selection into the NBA All-Rookie Second Team. Over the years, Kevin’s statistics improved and he became the franchise player in Minnesota, with his best season being a 2013-2014 season, in which he played in 77 games, all starts, and averaged 26.1 points, 12.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
