Although she was born in the US, she spent much of her time growing up in Christchurch, New Zealand where her mother was from. Her family later moved back to the US and settled in Arizona. Nigri started cosplaying in 2009 and instantly became famous when her unique interpretation of the character Pikachu at the San Diego Comic-Con International went viral.
