The show is set in the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana during the 1980s and delves into the disappearance of a young boy along with supernatural events that have started to occur in the town. The show paid homage to the pop culture of the era, featuring works of Stephen King and Steven Spielberg. Films, anime and video games of the era was also featured.
